Mr. Li Rongrong, senior engineer, born in 1944 at Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, joined the Communist Party of China in December 1983. He has a bachelor’s degree.
Since 1963, he studied in Tianjin University majoring in electrochemistry engineering. From 1968 to 1986, he served successively as worker, workshop chief, deputy director and director of the factory.
In 1986, he was appointed as Vice Chairman of Wuxi Municipal Economic Commission, Jiangsu Province. Then he successively held the posts of Director of Wuxi Municipal Light Industry Bureau, Chairman of Wuxi Municipal Planning Commission, and Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Planning and Economic Commission.
In June 1992, he moved to the Production Planning Bureau of the State Council Production Office. In August 1992, he was assigned successively as Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department of the State Council Economic and Trade Office, Director-General of the Technical Renovation Department, Secretary General, and Vice Chairman of the State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC). In 1998, he was appointed as Vice Chairman of the State Development and Planning Commission (SDPC) and Member of SDPC CPC Committee. In December 1999, he held the position of Vice Chairman and Deputy Party Secretary of SETC. In February 2001, he was appointed as Chairman and Party Secretary of SETC by the 20th Session of the Standing Committee of the 9th National People’s Congress.
At present, Mr. Li Rongrong is Chairman of SASAC and Party Secretary of SASAC CPC Committee. He is Member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
Mr. Li Rongrong presides over the overall work of SASAC and assumes the main responsibility. He is the first person of responsibility in SASAC. Mr. Li Rongrong supervises the General Office(Office of CPC Committee), the Bureau of Statistics and Evaluation, the Bureau of Property Right Management, and the Bureau of Personnel.
