Deloitte Expressed Condolence to SASAC on the Earthquake Disaster

On May 21，Mr. James H. Quigley, the CEO of Deloitte, wrote to Chairman Li Rongrong, lamenting the heavy losses of lives caused by the devastating earthquake in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province, and expressing his condolences to China’s central SOEs for their huge losses and damages in the earthquake. Mr. Quigley said in the letter that the China firm of Deloitte had donated around RMB 7 million to the disaster areas and specially initiated a fundraising program for Dongfang Steam Turbine Works. At present, Deloitte is providing pro-bono audit of donations made to The Red Cross Jet Li’s One Foundation and a team of Deloitte is now working in Sichuan to monitor the dispatch of supplies to disaster-stricken areas. And a few Deloitte employees, who have medical and psychological training, are working as volunteers in Sichuan. Mr. Quigley also called for the donations from Deloitte global member firms to contribute to their country’s Red Cross in aid of the Sichuan earthquake relief.
