Vice Chairman Shao Ning Met with Chairman and CEO of Electricite De France
On December 21, Vice Chairman Shao Ning met with Henri Proglio, Chairman and CEO of Electricite De France (EDF). EDF is one of the Fortune Global 500 and the largest French state-owned enterprise, 87% of whose shares was held by the French government when being listed in 2005. Mr. Proglio introduced EDF’s operation, its methodology in response to low-carbon economy and measures adopted in obtaining economic returns while undertaking social responsibilities on the premise of implementing public service functions and guaranteeing electricity supply. He hoped that EDF would strengthen cooperation with Chinese central SOEs in the electricity sector. Mr. Shao Ning expressed that central SOEs, those electricity enterprises in particular should draw on the experience of EDF’s practice and methodology. He pointed out that with the reduction of mineral resources and the high evaluation of clean energies, especially nuclear power, EDF had much market potential and room for growth with advanced nuclear technologies. The two parties also exchanged views on corporate governance, carbon dioxide emission reduction and other issues of common concern.
